HOME OFFICE

Location, Design and Function

Home Office Design Madison WIAs more and more people are asked to work from home, customers reach out to ask us about the possibilities for creating a home office.  Are you a minimalist or a maximalist?  Do you have an amazing and inspiring view that you want to focus on?  Does your office need to pull double duty (play room, guest room, study room)?

Where can you house your new office?  You could convert an unused dining room, formal living, or spare bedroom into your new home office.  Do you have excess loft space?  Carve out a corner in your finished basement for your home office; perhaps add French doors for privacy.  You could also add a murphy bed so it doubles as a guest bedroom.  Get creative to find space; Do you have a large entry where a hidden desk could live?  Do you have a large walk in closet?  Finished attic space?

Are you videoconferencing and need a background that shows off your personality?  Perhaps you need to say you’re organized and stable with a traditional, stately office.  Perhaps you need to show off a more creative vibe showing how you can think outside the box with a live edge desk or two-tone painted cabinetry.  Maybe it’s best to have a simple and sleek background that blends away so the focus is on you!

Things to think about for function:

  • How many people will use the space for work?  Will you invite clients/customers and meet with them within your space?
  • What equipment will you use within the space (printer, laptop, desktop with 1 or 2 screens).
  • Do you need file drawers, bookshelves, pencil drawers, other specific items to your trade?
  • How much storage do you need for files, books, binders, office supplies?

Caliber can help you through all of these questions and create the unique space perfect for you and your needs.  The perfect space we collaboratively create with you will maximize your productivity and make “going to work” that much more enjoyable!
